Summer reading recommendations?
Anyone have any good fiction recommendations for summer reading? I'm wanting to read more fiction these days. I've just finished reading Emma by Jane Austen (loved it!), and I have a gift card to Barnes and Noble that's a-burnin' in my wallet. Got any suggestions for me?

Fantasy--Sookie Stackhouse Series: (First one is Dead Until Dark)--wildly imaginative, at times trashy, but hard to put down series with vampires, werewolves, demons, and fairies
Chick Lit--Lucy Sullivan is Getting Married by Marian Keyes (lighthearted, witty, and all the ingredients for a good tale about romance and friendship(there was a time when I would recommend any book by her, but her more recent books are commentary on domestic abuse and drinking, and are sort of downers)
Sci-Fi: Beggars in Spain by Nancy Kress (genetically altered humans who never sleep: makes you think, and even though there are sad times in the book, stick with it because ultimately it's not a sad book)
Adventure: The Eight by Katherine Neville (the writing has some cliches thrown about, but very enjoyable still)
I just finished reading The Lovely Bones, which I found good. Don't watch the movie they made though...
I second the Marian Keyes recommendation from the previous commenter. Though I have also heard that her latest books are not very good. I liked Last Chance Saloon and The Other Side of the Story.
Did you read Harry Potter? If so, and you happened to enjoy those books, I would recommend Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones.
How about those Girl with the Dragon Tattoo books?
I'm back re-reading hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy.

I'm glad you reminded me about the Sookie Stackhouse series. I love the TrueBlood series and have been meaning to read the books! Do you watch the show also?

I read the first Harry Potter and I did like it actually! But the reason I read it was because a free copy fell into my hands. Otherwise, you know, I probably wouldn't have even given it a chance. Isn't that funny how that works out sometimes?
